Orlando Custody Agreements Lawyer

Many unmarried parents are unaware of their rights. At the law office of Timothy W. Terry, Attorney at Law, we can help you understand your situation and guide you through the legal processes that are designed to protect your parental rights whether you are raising your child together or are separated.

An initial consultation is available to you at no charge.

To discuss your family law matter, shared parenting plan or custody agreement with an experienced Orlando attorney, e-mail or call us at 407-495-2399. With more than 30 years of experience, we provide skilled advocacy to parents throughout the central Florida region.

Shared Parenting Plans for Unmarried Parents

Unmarried parents are entitled to the same rights as divorcing couples. You can create a custom shared parenting plan, commonly known as a visitation and custody agreement, to outline your parental responsibilities, time sharing and support obligations.

First, however, you must establish your legal rights through a paternity action. An unwed mother initially has sole custody of the child. A father must obtain a court order to establish his rights. Once a court order has been obtained, the mother and father can work together to develop a parenting plan or resolve disputes in court.

Helping Resolve Family Matters

At our firm, we are committed to working one on one with our clients. We work to understand their needs so we can create custom solutions tailored to their specific situations. In addition to helping parents with shared parenting plans, we can also answer questions about:

  • Stepparent adoptions
  • Interference with custody and visitation
  • Mother’s rights
  • Father’s rights
  • Child custody modifications
